I was given a lovely book yesterday – 1,000 Places to See Before you Die. Cool book – first page I opened to, was the Red Light District in Amsterdam. Heh, heh – we both got a good laugh out of that. Prince Edward Island is in it – as usual Kings County – the BEST part - is for all intents and purposes left out. There is only a brief mention of the Kings Byway.
This morning Sheila sent me a list of 50 films to see before you die. Apparently this was in a weekend paper - somewhere. I have seen four of them only – certainly not close to them all. I was actually in Los Angeles in 1991, when one of them – The Player, was shot. My personal favourite is not on the list – The Commitments.
So this is the plan. I will try to watch 49 out of the 50 movies. If I miss seeing the last one, then perhaps I won’t die. The 1,000 places – hmm, find the wherewithal and finances to visit 998 of them. After all I live in one of them. When I am ready to go perhaps the numbers 50 and 1,000 are achieved. Hmmmm . . . .
But then again, what will the next list be? 500 People to Meet Before you Die, or 250 Meals to Eat Before you Die, or 100 CD’s to Listen To Before you Die, or 499 Books to Read Before you Die, . . . yep, could be around for a long, long time . . .
